Chicago bears cruise to 6th straight victory

One week after returning a missed field goal a record 108 yards, Vasher intercepted two passes, and the North-leading Bears prooved themselves to be a contender in the NFC with a 13-3 victory over the Carolina Panthers, Chicago's sixth straight win. Vasher's first pick led to a 3-yard touchdown reception, and the second resulted in a 33-yard field goal. The second year pro now has 6 interceptions. The Bears defensive line also seemed rather potent, as they sacked Jake Delhomme 8 times during Sunday's game.

In the passage Catton tells of a beautiful spring day in early April 1865. As one women said "one of those unusually lovely days that the spring sometimes brings, when delicate silks that look too fine at other times seem just to suit." It was a very peaceful spring day indeed. Shortly after the "11 o'clock" service news arrived to President Davis, from General Lee, informing the president of Lee's latest agenda. The news was great, "Lee was going to retreat, the government was to move out tonight, the Yankees would take over in the morning." (444-445)
